IS THERE A NON-SURGICAL SOLUTION?
Treatment of cardiovascular diseases is a major burden for both developed and developing economies. Performing the necessary tests before surgery (such as blood, urine tests and electrocardiogram, X-ray film) and obtaining an anesthesiology opinion are important stages of preoperative preparation. Many patients also have a herniated disc and need to undergo heart surgery together with the hernia, and situations are encountered where treatment is necessary before or after this.
Every year, thousands of open and/or closed heart surgeries (minimally invasive) are performed in our country.
So, if a patient who has had heart surgery has a herniated disc, does the patient have to undergo surgery for this reason? Should the pre-operative preparations listed above be made again? Should the patient receive anesthesia again? Is there a non-surgical treatment for herniated discs?
A Pain Center (Algology) has been established within the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation of our hospital (Specialist Dostali Aliyev) .
The treatment of a herniated disc is carried out not only according to the patient’s pain complaint, but also by taking into account other findings. If the patient only has pain, painkillers, muscle relaxants and bed rest can often be enough to reduce the pain and sometimes completely eliminate it. In cases where the pain does not go away, the solution is not surgery immediately.
Not every herniated disc treatment is surgery. If the patient does not have loss of strength, decreased reflexes or loss of surgery is not immediately resorted to. For more information on this subject, be sure to read the article by Specialist Dr. Dostali Aliyev.
