Why is Incisionless Endoscopic Heart Surgery Protective?

Endoscopic heart surgeries are performed without cutting any bone tissue of the patients. Therefore, there is no situation of the bones not sticking together after the surgery. Also, there is no bone infection here. Therefore, it is listed among the “protective methods” in heart surgeries.

In addition, wound infection is almost never seen. The wounds are only large enough to allow the endoscopic device to pass, that is, around 5-6 mm. It is performed using the devices in the picture below.

Patients who do not have a bone incision and have a very low risk of infection are not psychologically affected by such an operation due to the small size of the wound. They have positive energy.

Unfortunately, these types of surgeries cannot be applied to every patient. For this reason, they can only be performed on certain patient groups. The disadvantage of endoscopic surgeries is that they usually take longer than normal open surgeries.
