Kıvanç Atılgan MD, PhD
Head of Interventional Cardiac Surgery
Dr. Kıvanç Atılgan was born in Ankara in 1980. After completing his primary education at Akçakoca Atatürk Primary School, he finished his secondary education at Düzce Anatolian High School and Ankara Atatürk Anatolian High School. Later, he attended İzmir Maltepe Military High School for his high school education. He graduated from the Gülhane Military Medical Academy Faculty of Medicine between 1998 and 2004. Serving as a general practitioner, he completed his compulsory service between 2004 and 2006 at the Ankara Gölbaşı Special Forces Natural Disaster Search and Rescue Unit under the General Staff Presidency. He passed the specialization exam in medicine and received his specialization training in the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at Gülhane Military Medical Academy between 2007 and 2012. He served as a specialist physician at the Cardiovascular Surgery Clinic of Hakkari Military Hospital of the Land Forces between 2012 and 2014, then retired. From 2014 to 2016, he worked at the Cardiovascular Surgery Clinic of Ankara Özel Liv Hospital. Between May 2016 and December 2018, he served as an assistant professor in the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at Bozok University in Yozgat. In December 2018, he joined the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at TOBB ETÜ University Faculty of Medicine Hospital and continues to work as a specialist physician there. Married and father of three children, Kıvanç Atılgan has authored over 50 national and international articles, presented at more than 30 national and international congresses, and contributed to two book chapters academically.
